This article examines the issue of ensuring the economic security and competitiveness of enterprises in the context of the digitalization of operational processes. It analyzes theoretical approaches to understanding the dual nature of digitalization, which simultaneously drives development and creates vulnerabilities. Using data from the Network Readiness Index, it is revealed that the Russian Federation has been steadily declining in global digital rankings since 2022. An empirical analysis based on data from the Southern Federal District reveals nonlinear and multidirectional trends in the implementation of digital technologies. Promising areas for improving the economic security of enterprises are identified
