The article investigates the environmental and economic aspects of the formation and accumulation of waste household consumption due to the intensification of customer turnover. The statistical data on the structure of heading packaging a large share of which is occupied polymers are given. The social and environmental consequences of modern methods of waste disposal, and domestic experience of leading countries in the field of solid waste management analyzed. The results of author’s own assessment of the statistical data on the volume of the current formation of polymer waste household consumption in the Rostov region and their subsequent extrapolation to the territory of the Russian Federation are given. The study identified and analyzed areas of industrial use of plastic waste household consumption, including their combustion to generate electricity, as well as proposed measures of social motivation of the population effective disposal of solid waste
